Sylvia M. Fuentes, 79, Batesville, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati.. Born Aug. 25, 1936, in Batesville, she was the daughter of Catherine (Rahe) and Herman Dickman. She married Cress Fuentes April 19, 1958, at St. Louis Catholic Church, and he preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1983. She worked in the housekeeping department at Hillenbrand Industries, retiring in 2000.. Sylvia was a member of St. Louis Church, a former member of the Red Hat Ladies Club and ran with her husband on the Sunman Area Rescue Squad for 10 years. In her free time she loved going to bingo and was a regular at both St. Louis and St. Anthony's bingo nights. She enjoyed working Sudoku puzzles, watching "Wheel of Fortune," making crafts and was a league bowler on Wednesday afternoons for years. Not much for sports, she referred to golfers as goofers, wasn't big on reading and even less with exercise. Her family fondly remembers her go to meal of pot roast, carrots and potatoes. However, once the kids had grown, Sylvia would develop a weakness for eating out and was a regular at McDonald's on Saturdays. Family, though, was her true passion. She felt her greatest accomplishment was raising her eight children. She was delighted as the house began to fill with the addition of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and relished having them around.. Sylvia is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Irene and Joe Miller, Williamsburg, Ohio, Kimberly and Anthony McGraw, Burlington, Kentucky, Diane May and Nick Minnick, Fort Wayne, Christina Fuentes, Cincinnati, Catherine and Dennis Pugh, Batesville, and Denise Macdonald, Batesville; son and daughter-in-law Gary and Esughani Fuentes, Batesville; sister Shirley Suttmann, Batesville; brothers Richard and Alvin Dickman, Batesville; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.. Stan Pondo officiating followed by burial in St. Nicholas Cemetery.. The family requests memorials to the Sunman Area Life Squad or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
