Sue Ellen Gillespie, 70, Batesville, passed away Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
The daughter of the late Elzia and Lula Abner Hudson was born April 21, 1946, in Covington, Kentucky. She married Danney E. Gillespie Nov. 18, 1962, and he survives.
Sue worked as the circulation manager at The Herald-Tribune for many years. She and her husband also owned and operated the former DanSue Ceramics and Clay Chalet Ceramic shops. Earlier in her life, she was the manager for Lord's Department Stores in Greensburg and Rushville. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 54 years, Dan Gillespie, Batesville; a daughter, Dawn (Ernie) Barr, Muncie; son Bret E. Gillespie, Indianapolis; four grandchildren: Danielle (Ryan) Goodspeed, Hartford City, Brianna Barr, Muncie, and Logan and Jared Gillespie, Indianapolis; three great-grandchildren: Kinley, Gabriel and Eli Goodspeed. One sister, Audrey Gard, Walton, Kentucky, and a brother, B.N. Hudson, Cincinnati, also survive.
Sue was preceded in death by her brother Russell Hudson and daughter-in-law Joan E. Gillespie.
A celebration of life for Sue Gillespie with Pastor Rob Edwards officiating will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory, Rushville.
