Rachel's Story

Rachel Gayle (Lothridge) Cutter, 58, Batesville, passed away at home Sept. 29, 2015.. Rachel was born Dec. 19, 1956, in Madison, the daughter of Keith and Edith (Miles) Lothridge. She married Eldon R. Cutter Sept. 28, 1974, and they were blessed with three children.. Rachel was a member of the St. Peters Lutheran Church (Bear Branch), Ohio County. Rachel graduated from Switzerland County High School and Ivy Tech Community College in 2014, receiving an associate degree in human services.. Rachel was employed by Corizon/Indiana Minority Health Coalition serving as the parole re-entry liaison for 10 southeastern counties. She was very passionate about social justice and human services. She worked for several organizations, including Safe Passage and Community Mental Health. She was also a board member of the Open Door nonprofit organization. Rachel was committed to helping others and was a strong supporter of domestic violence prevention and intervention. Rachel was well respected by both her co-workers and clients with her teaching, counseling, knowledge and intervention skills and techniques.. Rachel enjoyed spending time with her family, loved dogs, listening to music and reading. She also enjoyed “porch-sitting” and sweet tea. She was a free-spirit with a country heart. She was an excellent cook.. Rachel will be missed by her husband, Eldon Cutter; her three children: Regina (James) Edwards, Walton, Kentucky, Jakob Cutter, Davenport, Florida, and Adam Cutter, New Point; her grandson Dillon Edwards; her stepgrandchildren Patrick and Amanda Edwards; her sister Diane (Alan) Jones, Palmetto, Florida; her father-in-law Marvin H. Cutter, Dillsboro; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gary and Karen Cutter, Ivan and Rita Cutter, Daryl and Sherri Cutter and Rita and Floyd Stevens; along with many nephews, nieces and cousins.. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Jeffery K. Lothridge, mother-in-law Helen L. Cutter and niece Larisha M. Liter.. Family and friends may call Friday, Oct. 2, from 5-8 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home, 1150 State Road 46 E., Batesville. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 3, at 11 a.m. by Pastor Pamela Theide at Meyers Funeral Home. Following the funeral services, there will be a Celebration of Life Gathering for family and friends at the Knights of St. John hall, 111 S. Vine Street, Batesville. Rachel wished to be cremated.. Memorials may be given to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Safe Passage and St. Peter Lutheran Church in Bear Branch.. Online condolences at www.meyersfuneralhomes.com.
