Olive Mae "Tootie" Alvey, 87, Laurel, died Sunday, July 17, 2016, at her residence.
Born Feb. 16, 1929, in Peppertown, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Laura (Bulmer) Quinlan. On Sept. 29, 1951, she was united in marriage to Alfred Alvey, and he survives.
A homemaker, she was a member of the Buena Vista Christian Church. In her leisure time she enjoyed gardening and tending to her gladiolas, collecting angels and, perhaps most of all, taking care of her family.
Besides Alfred, her husband of nearly 65 years, survivors include a son, Gary (wife Rhonda) Alvey, Laurel; a daughter, Debra Alvey, Laurel; a granddaughter, Angela (Bobby) Shaffer; and her pride and joy, great-granddaughter Hailee Shaffer; two sisters, Helen McCarty, Clarksburg, and Hazel Jordan, Bowling Green.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.
Family and friends may visit from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville. Pastor John Johnson of the Buena Vista Christian Church will officiate the funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Brookville.
