Monroe Henry Meyer, 91, Batesville, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Aspen Place, Greensburg.
The son of Fred and Lillie (Stickfordt) Meyer was born Aug. 3, 1924, in Franklin County at the home where he was still living.
Monroe was a lifelong farmer and also sold Dixon lawn mowers, but many will know him as the Birdhouse Builder at the farmers' market. On Jan. 17, 1948, he married Luella Westerman at St. John United Church of Christ, Huntersville, where he was also a member. He was a lifetime member of the Indiana Farm Bureau (Ray Township).
Monroe is survived by his wife Luella Meyer; sons and daughters-in-law Wayne and Toni (Pfeiffer) Meyer, Dan and Sandy Meyer, Art and Nancy Meyer and Jerry and Janet Meyer; and daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Richard Pfeifer and Marge and Paul Thole. He will also be missed by his 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and brother Wilbur Meyer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Clarence Meyer and sisters Delia Narwold, Esther Narwold, Flora Thie and Irene Thie.
Visitation is Sunday, June 5, from 5-8 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home. Funeral services are Monday, June 6, at 10 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ with Pastors Dennis and Linda Frische-Mouri officiating. Burial will follow services at St. John cemetery.
