Pastor Margaret D. "Peg" Dorwick, 83, Milan, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at Ripley Crossing there.
The daughter of John and Alice (Anderson) Flaherty was born Sunday, Jan. 8, 1933, in Ambrose, North Dakota. Pastor Peg married Charles "Chuck" Dorwick Aug. 4, 1956, and he survives.
Pastor Peg was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Milan, and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Peg was a registered nurse for many years, retiring from DuPage Community Convalescent Center, Wheaton, Illinois. She then became an ordained minister in the Lutheran faith. She filled pulpits at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Dillsboro; St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Batesville; St. John's Lutheran Church, Sunman; and St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Milan.
In her free time, she enjoyed family, quilting, cooking, baking apple and cherry pie and spice cake, and loved writing poetry and reading. She also was a fine seamstress.
Pastor Peg also is survived by sons Keith Dorwick (John Kelley), Lafayette, Louisiana, and Kevin (Cathy) Dorwick, Galena, Illinois; daughter Karin Selga, Louisville, Kentucky; brother John Flaherty, Kansas; sister Mary Taylor, Illinois; and three grandchildren: Jacquie and Greg Dorwick and Cody Selga.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Dennis Flaherty.
