Joellen Dietz, 81, Batesville, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2015, at her home.. Born March 15, 1934, in Oldenburg, she was the daughter of Seraphine (Schulte) and Joseph Ferkinhoff. She married James Dietz Oct. 26, 1957, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Oldenburg. She enjoyed working as a remedial reading aide at St. Louis School and in the cafeteria at the Batesville Primary School.. A quiet light, a beautiful lady, a smile for everyone, patient and gentle, devoted to family is how those who knew Joellen would describe her. She truly loved her family and that is what brought her the most happiness in life. She was a wonderful cook especially her roast beef and coffee cakes. Everything was made from scratch just by throwing a little of this and that together. Joellen could truly make something out of nothing! Her favorite TV show was “Dancing with the Stars” and she also watched college basketball, pro football and golf on the weekends with Jim. She enjoyed tending to the flowers around the house and mowing grass on the John Deere mower.. She is survived by her husband Jim; daughters Christy Moenter, Batesville, Jan Alexander, Hendersonville, Tennessee, Paula Lehman, Nineveh, and Karen Bruns, Batesville; sister Donna Schutte, Oldenburg; brother Marvin Ferkinhoff, Brookville; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by sister Mary Tekulve and brothers Dan and Cliff Ferkinhoff.. Visitation is Saturday, Nov. 21, from 9-11 a.m. at Weigel Funeral Home. A funeral Mass follows at 11:30 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church with the Rev. Stan Pondo officiating. Joellen's wishes were to be cremated following services. A private family interment will be held at a later date.. The family requests memorials to the Margaret Mary Health Foundation Hospice Fund or St. Louis School.
