Evelyn Flora Richards, 86, Greensburg, passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at Heritage House of Greensburg.
Born July 14, 1930, in Ripley County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Delia (Meyer) Narwold.
Evelyn graduated from Napoleon High School and then went on for her associate degree at Purdue University, where she met Paul Richards.
On Feb. 4, 1950, she married Paul at St. John Huntersville Church, Batesville, where she has been a dedicated member, giving a lot of time along with many gifts to the church, such as all the Bibles in the pews along with office furniture.
Evelyn retired from Cummins Engine, Columbus, as a legal secretary. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 348, Batesville; Tree City Squares, Greensburg; and the Brunch Bunch, Indianapolis. Evelyn and her husband loved to travel around in their Winnebago, going camping and dancing, square dancing mostly. They did almost everything together from shopping to church, but dancing is what they loved most. They danced in all but two states, showing off their dancing skills, along with Russia and Poland during a time when it was not easy to travel to those countries.
Evelyn is survived by her son Jerel Richards and his wife Denise, Greensburg; grandchildren Tonia Richards, Tawana Brewer, Scott Richards, Jerel Richards Jr., Preston Richards and Tiffany Richards; along with 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, husband and son Troy Richards, she was preceded in death by her sister Ethel Thielbar.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 6, from 5-8 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville, with OES services at 7 p.m. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at St. John United Church of Christ, Huntersville, with Pastors Dennis Frische-Mouri and Linda Frische-Mouri officiating.
