David John Oswald, 78, Lexington, Kentucky, husband of Betty Jewell Price Oswald, passed Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017.
The son of the late Edward Bernard and Bertha Marie Post Oswald was born Aug. 4, 1938, in Batesville.
David graduated from St. Joseph Preparatory, Bardstown, Kentucky, and earned his bachelor's degree from Xavier University. He served in the Air Force in Okinawa, Japan.
Throughout his life, David enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies, including oil painting, woodworking, building model planes and train sets, fishing, gardening, as well as collecting rare fossils and Indian arrowheads, all of which he loved sharing with his family and friends.
Survivors also include two daughters: Lisa (Wes) White and Becky (Doug) Clark; grandchildren Victoria White and Noah Clark; sister Joan (Tom) Hellmich; sisters-in-law Barbara (John) Stacy and Phyllis Herring; brother-in-law Johnny (Kim) Price; as well as beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Oswald; and sisters Marilyn Oswald and Dawn Gregg.
David was laid to rest at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville, Kentucky, Tuesday, Jan. 31. Arrangements were handled by Betts & West Funeral Home, Nicholasville, Kentucky. The online guestbook may be signed at www.BettsandWestfuneralhome.com.
