Ruth Mae Darling
She was born on Lee's Creek in Harrison, Ohio on March 20, 1918 to Charles and Daisy (nee: Marker) White. At age 1, the family moved to Logan, IN where she lived until her marriage on June 11,1938 to Leonard Darling. Married for over 54 years, Ruth spent 75 years on their Mt. Pleasant farm. To this union were born two sons, Thomas Eugene and Jerry Charles.
A longtime Methodist, Ruth was a member of the Logan, Mount Pleasant and currently the Dearborn Hills United Methodist Churches. She was always active in church work, helping with dinners, leading MYF group, teaching Sunday school classes, playing the piano and singing in the choirs.
Ruth enjoyed tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She was a renowned cook and loved sharing her dishes with her family and others on the ridge. Ruth also liked to quilt with friends and neighbors. She was always ready for a game of cards or to teach her grandchildren to fish. Ruth enjoyed keeping in touch with friends and relatives by writing many detailed letters or cards over the years. She also loved birds and enjoyed her feeders even after moving to the nursing home. Most of all Ruth loved her family. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by many of her dearest friends and family. Her loving smile will be truly missed by all.
She is survived by one son Thomas (Peggy) Darling, six grandchildren, Andrea (Jon) Glassman, Jill Darling, Jeff (Teresa) Darling, Jennifer (Jim) Clark IV, Jackie (Chris) Mulligan, Greg (Jo) Darling; eight great grandchildren, Jared, Robbie (Annie) and Charlie Glassman, James (Kristy) Clark V, Jessie (Isaiah) Steffen, Kaitlynn Darling, Aaron and Zachary Mulligan; and two great-great grandchildren, James Russell Clark VI and Kennli Monney; niece Marilyn Bourquein and other numerous nieces and nephews.
