Robert A. Lamppert, age 97 of Batesville, died March 17, 2019, at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg.
Born September 11, 1921, in Ripley County Indiana, he is the son of Martha (nee Riehle) and Frank Lamppert. Bob served in the Army during World War II in the Aleutian Islands, earning a Bronze Star.
After the service he would marry Edna Fledderman on August 24, 1948, at St. Mary's of the Rock Church and she preceded him in death on November 17, 2016.
He was a supervisor for Batesville Casket Company, retiring in 1983 after 40 years.
Bob loved being outdoors, so naturally many of his interests were outdoor activities. He was an avid fisherman and went every chance he'd get. He also enjoyed spending time in the woods as well as raising fruits, vegetables and chickens, with the chickens becoming a side business for him.
Bob was a huge Reds and Pete Rose fan along with being a fan of Bobby Knight and I.U. basketball. He helped start the youth basketball program at St. Anthony's Church and was the coach for many years. Bob also liked playing cards at family gatherings and solitaire other times, but his daughters teased that "dad played by his rules."
He is survived by daughters Beverly Froman of Liberty, Indiana, Darlene Trusty of New Palestine, Indiana, Pam Brown of Shelbyville, Indiana; son Dwight Lamppert of Seminole, Florida; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is also preceded in death by sister Ginny Mehlon and brothers Joe and Alvin Lamppert.
Visitation is Friday, March 22, from 4-7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at St. Anthony's Church in Morris with Rev. Shaun Whittington officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors conducted by the Ripley County V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271. The family requests memorials to the Arbor Grove Auguste Care.
