Lester Paul Seevers, Sunman, was born June 8, 1928, in Guilford, the son of Henry and Margaret Rodmaker Seevers.
On July 28, 1956, he married Elvera Lipps at St. John's Lutheran Church, Hubbell's Corner. Lester proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War as a cadre in a 90 mm training battery. At the age of 59, he retired from Seagram's after 40 years of employment.
Lester loved being outdoors, especially in the woods on his tractor and gardening. He attended St. John's Lutheran Church, and he and his wife enjoyed traveling to visit with family. On Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, at the age of 88, Lester passed away peacefully at home.
Those surviving who will cherish Lester's memory include his wife and best friend of over 60 years, Elvera Seevers; daughter, Barbara (Jeffrey) Meyer, Leesburg, Virginia; grandsons, Nicholas Meyer, Arlington, Virginia, Kyle (Ashleigh) Meyer, Dallas, Texas, and Adam Meyer, Arlington, Texas. He is also survived by three sisters, Betty Webb, Lawrenceburg, Marcella Brandt, Lawrenceburg, and Rosemary Schuck, Guilford; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Mark Alan Seevers and Thomas Paul Seevers.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Lester's life Saturday, Feb. 18, from 9:30 until time of service at noon. The celebration and services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, Hubbell's Corner, and burial will follow in Evangelical Union Cemetery with military honors provided by the Sunman American Legion Post 337.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Fellowship Hall at St. John's Lutheran Church or to the Evangelical Union Cemetery Association.
