Kenneth's Story

Kenneth P. Moody, 68, Batesville, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at the Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis.
Born May 20, 1948, in Batesville, he was the son of Mary (Enzinger) and Alvin Moody. He married Betty Eldridge March 25, 1989, at Batesville Christian Church. He retired from Batesville Casket Co. in June 2009 after 35 years, learning every department before becoming supervisor.
Ken was an accomplished athlete who enjoyed sports of all sorts. A talented pitcher in high school, he nearly turned pro. With his playing days behind him, he still followed baseball and was an avid Reds fan. He also was a league bowler for many years, as well as an IU basketball fan, but his passion was golf.
To say Ken was a golf fanatic would be an understatement. He couldn't get enough of it. He'd go with his work buddies. He'd go with his family. He'd go with your buddies ... it didn't matter. Spring, summer, fall or winter, it didn't matter. Winter just required the right equipment. As long as it was above freezing, he'd have his son with him in a covered cart with a portable propane heater. And a basement full of trophies says he was pretty good at it. Aside from sports, he liked watching the old Western shows and, most of all, loved being with his grandkids.
Ken is survived by his wife; daughter Holly Meginniss, Spokane, Washington; sons Jason Moody, Greenfield, Ryan Moody, Morris, Shawn Raver, Dallas, and Scott Dashnaw, Versailles; sisters Beverly Jumper, Marseilles, Illinois, Anita Zielinski, Troy, Ohio, Roseann Tousley and Cindy Weiler, Batesville; brother Keith Moody, Batesville; and five grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother Kevin Moody.
Visitation is Friday, Nov. 25, from 4-7 p.m. with the family present from 4-6 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at St. Louis Catholic Church with the Rev. Stan Pondo officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Haven Cemetery, Harrison, Ohio. The family requests memorials to Batesville EMS 10 or the Batesville Athletic Boosters Club.
