Helen M. Bise
Born July 1, 1934, in Cincinnati, she is the daughter of Helen (Nee Baldock) and Charles Faulkner. In 1957 she married Glen Bise in California and he preceded her in death June 30, 1999.
Helen was a nurse and worked at Margaret Mary Health for many years. She was a member of the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 Ladies Auxiliary, St. John's United Church of Christ in Penntown and the Ladies Aid of St. John's.
Helen loved people. She enjoyed decorating the house during the holidays and wanted everyone to have fun. Her family explained that because the holidays were special, the kids ruled on those days, allowed to eat whatever they wanted. Candy, sweets, it didn't matter. Helen's love of children and gentle nature made her very welcoming and someone they would gravitate to.
According to her family, she was also a great cook. Didn't matter what is was, it was all good. She insisted you didn't leave her house hungry. Her breakfasts were legendary and she made the best cup of coffee you could get. Other interests included working jigsaw puzzles and watching "Wheel of Fortune," which if you interrupted while it was on, well, you did so at your risk.
She is survived by daughters Glenda Bise of Batesville, Helen Leatherman of Florida, Hope Benham of Versailles; sons Charles Puente of Muscatatuck, Indiana, Edward Puente of Somerset, Kentucky, Russell Pollard of Greensburg; brothers Charles Faulkner of Sunman, Steve Faulkner of Versailles; nineteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by her daughter Sharon Hanson and sisters Agnes Faulkner and Vivian Goldsmith.
Visitation is Thursday, August 16, from 4-7 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday, August 17, at the funeral home with Rev. Lynne Busch officiating followed by burial in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to St. John's United Church of Christ.
