Hazel Honnert, 83, Milan, passed away Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, at Margaret Mary Health, Batesville.
The daughter of Howard and Lottie Jozella (Elam) Fassold was born July 11, 1934, in Weisburg. She married Sylvester Frank Honnert Sept. 29, 1956, and he preceded her in death Feb. 13, 1982.
Hazel worked as a nurse assistant for the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, New Alsace, and American Legion Auxiliary Post 452. She enjoyed her church, watching NASCAR, IU basketball and the Cincinnati Reds, playing bingo and helping other people. She loved to spend time with her family and friends.
Hazel is survived by daughter Sherry (Bill) Howrey, Plainfield; sons Bud (Monica) Honnert, West Harrison, and David (Beth) Honnert, Batesville; brothers Roger (Glenna) Fassold, Sunman, and Douglas Fassold, Greendale; sister Dolores Fuchs, New Alsace; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass Thursday Feb. 8, at All Saints Parish, St. Paul Campus, New Alsace (9788 N. Dearborn Road, Guilford) with Father Johnathan Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 452.
