Greg was born to Harold and Dorothy Cooley December 10, 1953, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He spent most of his childhood in Batesville, Indiana. He was proud to be a Batesville Bulldog, scoring 482 points during his varsity career and playing on the 1971 semi-state team.
