Eugene "Gene" Henry Crum, 85, Sunman, passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at Ripley Crossing, Milan.
The son of the late Henry and Lilly (Ross) Crum was born March 2, 1930, in Sunman. Gene married Phyllis Jean Swift July 7, 1959, at Adams Lutheran Church, Batesville.
Gene was a man of great faith. As a lifetime member of Adams Lutheran Church, he instilled this in his family.
The lifetime farmer defined the words hard work and dedication. He loved working with the land and Mother Nature. Gene, along with his family, ran a farming operation, raising row crops and livestock. Many of us remember on holidays always being served the freshest Crum turkeys. He loved to attend farm auctions and enjoyed following his son and family at different singing events. Gene treated many to singing "I'm Walking the Floor Over You" or the "Tennessee Waltz."
Gene is survived by his wife; son Alan Crum, Sunman; daughter Lori Crum, Ashland, Ohio; sister-in-law Janet Crum, Sunman; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Melvin and Bill, sisters Mabel Crum and Delores Kestler and daughter-in-law Melissa Crum.
Services will all be held at Adams Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 29, from 5-8 p.m. The funeral will be held Saturday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m. with doors opening at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials can be given to the church in care of Neal's Funeral Home, Osgood, which is handling the arrangements.
