Dennis's Story

Dennis A. Prickel, 64, Batesville, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Born Jan. 25, 1951, he was the son of Mary Jane (Laudick) and Norbert Prickel.
Dennis was a sprayer inspector for Batesville Casket Co., retiring after 45 years of service. He was a member of Batesville Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1130, Knights of Columbus Council 1461 and Batesville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3183 Auxiliary and was a former member of Prell-Bland American Legion Post 271.
To say Dennis was a sports fan was an understatement. He was a huge fan of IU basketball and especially liked coach Bob Knight. He proudly displayed IU plates on both his convertible and his Jeep, which he enjoyed taking rides in with the top down during the summer months. He also enjoyed following the Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds and Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team.
His true passion, though, was his family and friends, especially his children, grandchildren and his friends at the Eagles, VFW and Tuba's Place. He could often be found during the day eating lunch at Tuba's.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Tammy and J.D. Renck, Batesville; son and daughter-in-law Travis and Jill Prickel, Batesville; grandchildren Halle and Jackson Renck and Will and Gus Prickel, Batesville; sisters and brother-in-law Linda Scott, Nashville, Michigan, and Doris and Neil Fledderman, Batesville; and brother and sister-in-law Robert and Carol Prickel, Batesville.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Ken Scott.
Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 21, from noon-4 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, Batesville. Funeral services follow at 4 p.m. with Mike Ison officiating. The burial will be at St. Louis Cemetery, with military graveside rites being conducted by Batesville VFW Post 3183 and Prell-Bland American Legion Post 271. Memorials may be made to the Batesville Athletic Boosters.
