Cleo's Story

Text size

Cleo Lois Renwick died peacefully at home on September 19th. She was born December 6, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois.
Cleo was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Myrwyn Dee Asher Renwick.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lawson Renwick Lewis of Bluffton and Carey Renwick Foster (Scott) of Big Sky, Montana; and by her two grandsons, Elijah Josiah Walters of Hilton Head, and Graham Angus Foster of Bozeman, Montana.
Cleo and Dee relocated to Beaufort from Batesville, Indiana, in the early 1980s. They purchased Martins Menswear on Bay Street where both became well-known for their community involvement and made many friends. After closing Martins, Cleo joined her friends at the bookshop, Bay Street Trading Co. As one of the "bookies," she became an indispensable part of the store and its place in the community. After the closure of the bookshop, Cleo became a regular fixture as a volunteer in the gift shop at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Cleo's devotion to her family and her enormous love for her countless friends from all walks of life were unshakable. Generous, kind and loving, Cleo made her gentle mark everywhere she went, leaving a remarkable legacy of friends made richer by having known her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name at Friends of Carolina Hospice, 1110 13th St., Port Royal, SC 29935, (843) 525-6257.
