Arlene M. Flodder, 72, Batesville, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at St. Andrews Health Campus.
Born Jan. 11, 1945, in Batesville, she was the daughter of Rose (Moeller) and Art Flodder. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and a welder at Batesville Tool & Die for 20 years.
Arlene was a natural caregiver. She took care of both parents until their deaths and for many years had a day care, where she enjoyed looking after the little ones. It was just her nature to do what she could for others. Some of her interests included flower gardening, working crossword puzzles, golfing and reading romance novels.
According to her family, she had a weakness for chocolate, candy and root beer. They also said she liked dreaming up remodeling ideas for the house and apparently had a cleaning addiction.
She is survived by daughters Cynthia Woods and Wenda Woolf, Minden, Louisiana, Lisa Benjamin, Alexandria, Louisiana, and Jerri Ann Hixson, Batesville; sisters Judy Tonges and Jackie Fledderman, Batesville; brother Dan Flodder, La Porte; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother Jim Flodder.
Visitation is Tuesday, Jan. 17, from 4-7 p.m. at Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at St. Louis Church with the Rev. Stan Pondo officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Ripley County Humane Society or Phi Beta Psi Sorority Cancer Research Fund.
